The Thorpe Family | Family Photography | Autumn 2020 | Peterborough, Cambs | CP

Autumn, what does it remind you of? Perhaps the leaves, or a hot chocolate. Maybe it’s your favourite time of year – it is mine! Not only do I love the colours but I love wearing cosy knitwear, scarves and boots – there’s just something about it. I think it’s almost like the last glimmer of light and colour before the days draw in early and the outside turns grey for winter.

Autumn, for this family, most likely reminds them of their little girl, Mila. Her middle name is Autumn so they thought it very fitting that they use their gift voucher for Calton Photography in the Autumn time. The day Saskia & Nathan came to see me for their photo session was a very grey & drizzly day but we didn’t let it put us off. Fortunately, we found shelter under the gorgeous trees on the outskirts of Ferry Meadows in Peterborough and we got creative!

I really do like overcast days, so if you’ve booked me in for photography and the weather is looking a little cloudy then don’t panic! The photos still turn out amazingly well – trust me! It also saves any squinting or worrying about getting sun in your little ones eyes or too much glare from the sun.

This day, we spent time just the four of us, and it was all about Mila. She was 9.5 months of baby goodness and knew exactly what to do for the camera. She was so smiley, I hardly had to try to make her laugh. What an absolute breeze! Want to see the results? You cannot tell it’s raining whatsoever.

Oh, the ones of Mila on the floor... don’t worry we didn’t just plonk Mila down onto wet leaves! We got inventive, and used the rain cover for her pram underneath a blanket scarf I brought along for the occasion. Who would know? Well, everyone now, but the point is you would never know!
