Photographing a blooming Mama whilst you too are pregnant was a new thing for me. It made it all very relatable. Although the lovely Palma put me to shame with her due date being the following week after our photos and she wore heels! She looked absolutely stunning. These two had really thought through their outfit choices, they looked so smart and coordinated, it was lovely to see.
Here's some of my favourites from the gallery. We utilised the scenery, and tried not to walk too far!
Did you capture your bump as it grew?
I know I didn't feel like it at all. SO much changes when you're pregnant and it's hard to know what it will be like, or how you will feel, especially for the first time. I forced myself to capture my bump, even though it was more like a yoga ball to be honest... but I am glad I did. You know when you feel rotten and you think you'll look awful in a photo, but then you look back in a few years time and think you actually look fine? That happens to me all the time. I'm a self conscious person. So I make the photos happen, even if I'm not feeling it at the time.
Some people feel great, and glowing throughout, others feel rotten and hate the entire process. But either way, what women are doing, what their bodies are capable of is incredible. If you're not happy to take a selfie, then trust a Photographer.
As a Photographer I will work with you to make sure you feel good, and confident before the shoot. Photography is an art form for me, it's a creative thing. It's not just a simple smile and pose, it's portraits, it's details, it's images that evoke a feeling or a reaction within when you look at them. It's treasures that you'll pass on to your children for generations. In a world where phones take great photos I think sometimes Photography is dismissed, but it's how you use that camera, and what you're trying to achieve more than the every day photo.
Anyway, I'm rambling. But I really loved photographing Fardin & Palma as a couple, and soon to be parents. What an honour.
