If you know me well, you'll know that I love all things "motherhood". Whether it be newborns, older children, Grandparents, Parents or Pregnancies, it all links back to a Mother.
I feel it is very important to photograph what you are passionate about as Photography is an art form. It shows up in your work when you're not really feeling it. My best work is when I'm feeling a deep connection with or truly believe in what I'm capturing.
Motherhood, and everything associated with it, is something I find myself drawn to. I'm maternal by nature, and feel I have so much to give in this industry.
My dream when I left school was to train to be a midwife. I went for it. I worked at Peterborough Hospital for a good few years on the Women's Health Ward and Breast/Gynae clinics which gave me an incredible foundation. However, I couldn't hack the night shifts, and so very quickly that dream was no longer.
It's only recently that I've found I can channel this fascination I have with Biology and Motherhood through Photography and provide something incredible for people to connect with and cherish.
So I wanted to run some mini sessions just for Mums. I thought spring would be ideal, with all the beautiful blossom and greenery. I had two bookings for it, but also some full shoots around a similar time, which I'd love to share with you as I was so chuffed with the outcome of these. They were a different dynamic to a whole family shoot.
Let me know what you think:
The Howman's
Our second shoot together. We spent time at their home, and also had a wander up to the blossom trees down the road. It was a truly beautiful setting.
Chloe & Rosie | Wisbech Park
The first time I photographed Chloe was when she was pregnant with Rosie and we also did a couple of Doortraits (doorstep shoots throughout lockdown) when Rosie was born and toddling around.
This was so lovely, and literally took 20 minutes before little Rosie fell over and hurt her knee. But what absolute GOLD we captured in that time.
Monica & Layla
The first shoot for this family! Held at Central Park in Peterborough and completely led by Layla. I absolutely love the chosen colour palette in these photos. Layla wasn't a huge fan of my camera, but as soon as we spotted some puppies she was perked right up.
We focused a lot on the details too! Her boots, hear earrings, her curls etc.
I hope you like them!
