When I met up with Ashton & Adam to discuss their photo session, we came to a bit of a rut! They wanted some outdoor photos and I was suggesting places in and around Peterborough & March so it was close to them, however it just wasn’t perfect. I took a leap and suggested Hitchin Lavender for their photos, it’s different, beautiful & I’ve always wanted to do a photo shoot there! The reason I was hesitant is because it’s about an hour and a half away, which I initially thought would be too far to expect a couple to drive to for their photos.
When I suggested it and showed Adam the location I could see his tone change, and they both said “yes!”, much to my delight!
So we arranged it for a couple of weeks later! We headed over to Hitchin Lavender on a Sunday afternoon. If you’ve never been before I would definitely suggest taking a visit! It’s filled with around 25 miles of Lavender fields and is a bit of a seasonal trip, as the lavender flourishes between the summer months. There’s walks, sunflower fields, wildflower fields and you can pick your own lavender. Don’t worry about the kids too because they have a play area, museum and a cafe/shop! I dabbled in some Lavender Lemonade which I would highly recommend!
Getting back to the photos..Ashton & Adam has said they were a bit self conscious about posing so I guided them through each part and we got right in amongst the lavender. Adam said the smell of it was so relaxing which was true! The good thing about this setting is I could go quite far away from the couple, meaning they felt more comfortable to just be themselves without a camera in their face, and still get some stunning photos.
