Lockdown Photography Adventures | Doortrait Fundraiser | March – June 2020 | Calton Photography

Wow. Just wow.

I cannot believe how well this doorstep portrait initiative went.

Lockdown began for us in the UK on March 20th and we had to cancel in-home photo sessions due to the social distancing measures that were required to control the spread of the virus. Obviously, this was devastating as many people weren’t able to capture their tiny babies or had been planning to get their family together (with much difficulty) for months! However, the only thing I could do was adapt.

I wanted to keep doing some photography because it really boosts, not only my own spirits, but those of the community and who receive their photos. So…how do I do this without breaking any rules??

DOORTRAITS!

What is a ‘doortrait’?

Put simply, it’s a doorstep portrait. This could be a portrait of your family, yourself, your pets etc. My theory behind this was to lift some spirits & give people a reason to get dressed up in the day whilst keeping those absolutely necessary social distancing measures!

This photography campaign had another motive too – to raise money. We managed to raise just over £230 which was way more than I imagined. I thought it would be an epic achievement to get to £100! I chose the Tudors Care Home in Stanground. My Aunt works here and knowing what the carers have had to go through with lack of PPE at the start of the pandemic, and changes in the way they care for our older ones in the community – I just wanted to help in some way!

There are 39 staff members here and so I teamed up with my family & friends to come up with some things we can give to them to say a huge THANK YOU for all they’ve been doing throughout Lockdown. Check it out below:

Not only did these sessions give me so much joy but they hopefully brought happiness to lots of families in and around Peterborough and helped to show our appreciation for our community & key workers. So thank you to all who were involved and all those who supported this campaign by sharing, liking, commenting & telling your friends and family about what I’ve been doing. I got to meet so many wonderful people and have had the best time taking your photos.

Want to see some photos we took??

Stay safe & take care
