One year on and were still adapting, still changing, still innovating. This post will be about how small businesses like mine have had to get even more creative than usual to survive, especially when people are the heart of your business and we're not able to see each other.
Video Call
This has truly been a saviour for meeting with photography clients. It means I am still able to "meet" you & discuss photography much easier than over the phone. Although I am sick of being on camera, like j imagine you are, it's beneficial to see your lovely faces, reactions and emotions when we chat. It's been a long emotional ride this year.
Shoots From a Distance
Many photographers, not just myself, kept going throughout restrictions where it was legal and safe to do so. We've worn masks, kept apart and limited numbers in family groups. We've even visited you on your doorstep to keep as safe as possible whilst still creating, still documenting, your lives.
Virtual Shoots
Some photographers have offered photography through facetime. It.works really well actually. I haven't offered this as a paid shoot for people because I do still work at the hospital too, but I did some with my family and it was really good fun. This one relies on your communication skills! Here's some I shot:
Education
So many photographers have used this time wisely to educate themselves or to educate you. A lot of photographers use reels on instagram, online courses or YouTube. It's pure gold for all those wanting to learn more about photography or gain a bit more insight.
So there, as time goes on we will adapt again and grow stronger each time! Share a small business you love below!
