How I Ran a Photo Session in My Mum's Conservatory! | Newborn Photography | Peterborough, UK

This may sound strange, but trust me, there was some logic in my brain when I decided to book a baby photo session in my mum's conservatory.

As I temporarily live with my family in Wisbech whilst my husband and I save for a house of our own, I wanted to ensure my photography momentum didn't come to a halt. So to do this, I needed to adapt. To run the Newborn Model Calls I had to have somewhere to photograph the babies, and I had nowhere in Peterborough to do that, but had a lot of interest from people in Peterborough. So I asked my Mum whether I could use her home, as no one would be there on weekdays. She was fine with it, and so this story begins.

Luca was nearly 5 months old when we did our photoshoot, so not really a newborn baby. But I wanted to get experience regardless of their age, it's all excellent experience. Calton Photography doesn't just do Newborn Photography so it was really helpful.

When Luca arrived, his mum changed him into a beautiful, earthy-green romper from H&M and he rocked it.

I'd love to get some of these in different sizes.

GOAL:

To one day be able to have a Client Wardrobe so that when you come for your shoot, you can choose what to wear from a wide range for you and baby. It will mean you won't have to stress about buying something new, or fitting into old clothes when you're post partum which many mum's have said to me they found it difficult, especially if they have had a C section.

But anyway, you want to see photos of Luca right? He was so chilled out and we got a few smiles on camera too!

Lesson Learned:

I feel these photos were a little darker that I'd have perhaps liked, which was a big learning curve for me. Although it was in a light and airy conservatory, there was a lot of darker furniture which might have been the reason behind this as the light will bounce off dark furniture a lot less than it would have on white. BUT we live and learn.

I hope you enjoy these precious moments between Mother and Son, my favourites from the session.

Meg x
