This post will show you how easy it is to create natural looking photos on an organised photoshoot. It's not as daunting as you might think! Very often I'll get approached by a couple/family saying they'd love to have a shoot but aren't posey people and don't like it to feel forced, so I'm imaging you get the same sorts of questions/comments. PLUS, everyone, including photographers, prefer those shots where you're not standing facing the camera and saying "say cheese" on 3...
So, here's some ideas to get you going. Test them out on your family and friends first if you like and I reckon you will love the results!
Walking
What do we do every single day? We walk, we move. It's my go to initial suggestion for couples in particular. I say "just go for a slow, causal walk hand in hand and then walk back to me".
Piggy Back/Shoulder Ride/Carry
This is great for couples on engagement shoots or families with little ones! Plus, it usually gets a good laugh out of the adults!
Chase
This one works best with playful couples or families with little ones! It's definitely more for outdoor shoots though! Just remember to keep your shutter speed high to avoid any blurring!
Squeeze or a Squish
For couples, I say "give her a squeeze" which usually gets a laugh or two. With families I say "everyone squish mum/dad/child" and they go running!
Airplane
This one requires Mum & Dad energy but is so worth it when you see their little faces!
The key thing to remember is HAVE FUN and your photos will be wonderfully natural. It's sometimes hard as a lot of us are camera shy but the more relaxed we, as. photographers are, the more relaxed our couples/families are.
I hope this was helpful. Any suggestions of more things you'd like to know please comment below or drop me an email!
